Whole Wheat Brown Butter and chocolate cookies

Cookies have special place in everyone’s heart and specially a child’s. These cookies will win your child over and they are healthy with the goodness of atta too. A cookie is originated in the United States and features chocolate, Butter as its distinguishing ingredient. The traditional recipe combines a dough composed of butter and both brown and white sugar with semi-sweet chocolate chips. Variations include recipes with other types of chocolate as well as additional ingredients such as nuts or oatmeal.

Ingredients that Makes around 2 dozen cookies , Calorie Count per serving 74

  • 1 cups whole wheat or multigrain atta
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½  cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Sift the flour, cocoa and salt together. Set aside.
  2. Heat the butter on a low flame and cook till it starts changing color slightly. Turn off the heat and let it cool completely
  3. With a hand mixer, cream together the browned cooled butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the vanilla and slowly add in the flour mixture and mix until combined. Make a ball of the dough, cover with a cling film and Chill for 30 minutes.
  4. Pre heat the oven to 170 C. Line a large baking sheet with a Silpat baking mat or parchment paper.
  5. Now take out the chilled dough and roll it out to a thickness of ¼ inch. Cut out the cookies with a cookie cutter of your choice. Arrange the cookies, on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake the cookies for 15 minutes, or until crisp and firm. Completely cool before and serving and store in a airtight container till about 2 weeks
