Cochin Shipyard was incorporated in the year 1972 as a fully owned Government of India company. In the last three decades the company has emerged as a forerunner in the Indian Shipbuilding & Shiprepair industry. This yard can build and repair the largest vessels in India. It can build ships upto 1,10,000 DWT and repair ships upto 1,25,000 DWT. The yard has delivered two of India’s largest double hull Aframax tankers each of 95,000 DWT . CSL has secured shipbuilding orders from internationally renowned companies from Europe & Middle East and is nominated to build the country’s first indigenous Air Defense Ship.
Shipyard commenced ship repair operations in the year 1982 and has undertaken repairs of all types of ships including upgradation of ships of oil exploration industry as well as periodical lay up repairs and life extension of ships of Navy, UTL, Coast Guard, Fisheries and Port Trust besides merchant ships of SCI & ONGC. The yard has, over the years, developed adequate capabilities to handle complex and sophisticated repair jobs.The Shipyard also trains graduate engineers to marine engineers who later join ships both Indian and foreign as 5th Engineers. 100 are trained every year.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • During the one year training period, candidates selected as Executive Trainee will be paid a consolidated monthly stipend of ` 22000/-. On successful completion of one year training, the selected candidate shall be absorbed as Assistant Manager in E-1 Grade in the scale of pay of ` 16400-3%-40500 and pay fixed at the start of the scale.
  • Besides basic pay, they will be eligible for Dearness Allowance as applicable and entitled to other Perks and Allowances under the Cafeteria approach,Leave, Reimbursement of Medical Expenses under Contributory Medical Insurance Policy, Leave Encashment, Contributory Provident Fund as admissible under Company Rules. The CTC per annum at the minimum of the scale as on date works out to ` 6.50 lakhs approx.

Age:

Age shall not exceed 25 years as on 30 Nov 2014 and relaxable by 3 years for OBC candidates,5 years for SC,ST and 10 years for Persons With Disabilities. Age relaxation of 5 years applicable for candidates who have been domicile of J&K during the period 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 as per Govt. of
India Guidelines.

Method of Selection:

  • For all posts the selection process will be held at Kochi. The method of selection will include a Written Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The Weightage for selection will be as under, Written test – 70% Group Discussion – 10%, & Personal Interview – 20%. Total – 100%.
  • The Written test is tentatively scheduled to be held during the last week of February 2015 at Kochi. The Written test shall be of 90 Minutes duration comprising of 100 Multiple Choice Questions in the areas of General Awareness, English Language, Numerical Ability, Reasoning Ability, and Subject Based.
  • In all disciplines, candidates who appear for the written test shall not be shortlisted for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Based on the marks secured in the written test only those candidates in the Open and OBC categories, who fall within a prescribed ratio 1:6 in the order of merit shall be short listed for the group discussion and personal interview. In the case of SC/ ST/ PWD Candidates the ratio of candidates to be short listed for the group discussion and personal interview would depend on the no. of vacancies reserved and as prescribed by the company.
  • Shipyard also reserves the right to increase/ decrease the above ratio for the purpose of short listing candidates for the group discussion and interview, for consideration for selection.

Qualification:

  1. The minimum qualification stipulated for all the posts must be from an Indian University/ Institute recognized by AICTE/ appropriate statutory authority in India and should be regular/full time courses.
  2. Some Universities/Institutes do not award Class or Percentage of marks and allot Aggregate Grade Points (e.g. CGPA/OGPA/CPI, etc.). In case University/Institute defines criteria for conversion of Aggregate Grade Point into Class and/or percentage of marks, the same will be accepted. However, where the University/ Institute does not define criteria for conversion of Aggregate Grade Point into Class and/or percentage of marks, the Aggregate Grade Points may be multiplied by 10 to get the required percentage of marks.
  3. Final year/semester students can also apply, provided they obtain their final results before the date of personal interviews scheduled before end March 2015.

Service Agreement Bond:

The selected candidates are required to execute a Service Agreement Bond to serve the company at least for a period of five years after successful completion of the training and execute a Service Agreement to remit an amount of ` 5 Lakhs (Rupees Five lakhs) for violation of the agreement.

Application Fee:

  • No application fee for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) / Person with Disability (PWD). They are exempted from payment of application fee.
  • In case of Open and OBC candidates, Application fee of ` 460/-(Non refundable, including bank charges ` 60/-) should be remitted only by way of the Challan generated online at the end of Phase I. No other mode of payment i.e. Cheque/Demand Draft/Postal Orders/Cash etc will be accepted.
